How can I buy biomethane?
We will be happy to supply you with biomethane. New generation gas CEE, s.r.o. is a licensed gas trader specialising in the Central and Eastern European region. Biomethane is an energy commodity and can be sold by a licensed gas trader in accordance with the Energy Act.
Can I tell by the output in production that I am consuming biomethane?
If you take gas from the gas grid, the production remains unchanged because in an interconnected system the gases from different sources are mixed. If you are taking biomethane directly from the plant in the form of bioCNG or bioLNG, assume a lower calorific value of about 10% for biomethane compared to fossil natural gas, which contains higher hydrocarbons with a higher heating value.
Who can I sell biomethane to?
We will be happy to buy (off take) the biomethane from you. New generation gas CEE s.r.o. is a licensed gas trader that focuses on cooperation with biomethane sources in the CEE region. Biomethane is an energy commodity and can be purchased by a licensed gas trader in accordance with the Energy Act.
How much is biomethane sold for?
The price of biomethane is the sum of the commodity price and the environmental price. The commodity part of the price of biomethane is the same as the price of fossil natural gas and corresponds to its energy value. The environmental part of the price depends on the feedstock used and the greenhouse gas savings of the biomethane.
How long can I buy/sell biomethane for?
The length of the contract is similar to that of natural gas. Short-term contracts of 1-5 years predominate, but customers are increasingly looking for certainty in long-term contracts such as PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements).
What are the differences between the different types of biomethane?
There are an infinite number of types of biomethane, depending on the feedstock used and the emission footprint. Advanced biomethane is produced only from selected feedstocks, waste and residues. Conventional biomethane is produced from energy crops such as corn. All biomethane must meet sustainability criteria.
What is biomethane produced from?
Biomethane is processed from biogas in biogas plants, or in wastewater treatment plants or municipal waste landfills.
Is biomethane the same as natural gas?
The potential uses of biomethane are the same as for natural gas, as it is chemically identical to the methane molecule (CH4). The difference is in the origin of the gas and the emission footprint. The emissions of biomethane are significantly lower than those of natural gas. Biomethane is a renewable gas, unlike natural gas, which is fossil-derived.
What is biomethane?
Biomethane is a renewable gas of biogenic (non-fossil) origin. It is also sometimes called renewable natural gas (RNG), which contains mostly methane.
What are the emission savings of biomethane?
The emission factor of biomethane depends on the feedstock from which the biomethane was produced. The typical emission factor of biomethane ranges from -70 gCO2eq/MJ to +25 gCO2eq/MJ. Emission factors below -100 gCO2eq/MJ are found in the most environmentally friendly plants that process wet manure and dung. Or if the CCU technology (Carbon Capture and Usage) is part of the biomethane production.
